Universal dividing heads are used as universal dividing devices (UDG) for metal-cutting machine tools. In combination with various instruments, universal dividing heads are used to measure the parameters of splines, keys, and parts with gear elements.
Universal dividing heads have a division value of 2/5/10/30 and 60 sec; for metrological tasks, more accurate optical dividing heads (ODG) are used.
