Rockwell hardness testers are named after the measurement principle of the same name, known as the Rockwell method for testing the hardness of materials. This method of measuring the hardness of metals is the most common and simplest. Rockwell hardness testers have gained popularity due to the speed of measurement. The measurement method is quite simple and is based on the penetration of a hard tip into the material and then measuring the depth of penetration. The advantage is that you can see the measurement results in real time, while measurements with other hardness testers require additional devices for calculating hardness, surface polishing, and a microscope. Microtech manufactures hardness testers with analog and digital displays.
